Liverpool set to lose key midfielders Fabinho & captain Henderson to Saudi clubs

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has verbally agreed terms with Al Ettifaq. The Reds are set to receive a £40 million offer from Al Ittihad for Fabinho.

Liverpool Transfer: Liverpool are on their way to lose two of their key midfielders along with the few they lost at the end of last season. Captain Jordan Henderson has agreed to move to the Saudi club Al Ettifaq. His former teammate Steven Gerrard has joined the side as their head coach. In the meantime, another Saudi club Al Ittihad are set to approach Liverpool with a £40 million offer for Fabinho. Reportedly, Thiago Alcantara also received offers from a Saudi club which he rejected.

Al Ettifaq approached the Reds captain Jordan Henderson with an offer where he would be earning quadruple the amount he is earning in Liverpool. Apparently, Steven Gerrard is playing a crucial role to see through the transfer. As per the transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Henderson has accepted the offer from Al Ettifaq. However, he has not signed anything yet. That will probably happen only after the Saudi club and Liverpool comes to an agreement between themselves. Reportedly, the midfielder has talked to coach Jurgen Klopp and has received the green signal.

Henderson who joined the Reds in 2011, has verbally agreed terms with Al Ettifaq. The 33-year-old has been a key player for Liverpool since he joined 12 years ago. Even last season, he featured in 43 games throughout all competitions, where he started in 23 of them. He was declared the Reds’ captain after Steven Gerrard left in 2015. Now, he is set to reunite with his former teammate who joined Al Ettifaq as their head coach only a few days ago.

On the other hand, another Saudi club Al Ittihad are set to approach Liverpool with a £40 million offer for Fabinho. As per reports, whether a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’ decision regarding the move will come quickly. Captain Henderson has 2 years left on his contract. This means that Al Ettifaq will have to agree on a payment with Liverpool. Similar to the captain, Fabinho also has 3 years left on his contract. Hence, if Fabinho agrees, then Liverpool would again be paid a fee from the reigning Saudi Pro League champions.

Liverpool Transfer saga gets complicated as Al Ittihad will bid for Fabinho and their captain Jordan Henderson has agreed to join Al Ettifaq

Liverpool are rebuilding their midfield actively this summer transfer window. They gave already brought on Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister for a combined transfer fee of £95 million. They are still approaching to bring Romeo Lavia from Southampton. However, the youngster seems to be overpriced as Southampton are set to ask £50 million for the player. Still, if Liverpool lose both Henderson and Fabinho at this moment, they will need serious reinforcements. The loss experience from their departure will need to be filled in as soon as possible.

Additionally, Fabinho and Henderson are not the only midfielders Liverpool need to be replacing. They have already lost Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner, Arthur Melo, and Naby Keita at the end of last season. Additionally, Fabio Carvalho has also left to join RB Leipzig on loan. The only thing they can be satisfied with is a Saudi club approached Thiago Alcantara as well which he rejected. The 32-year-old wants to stay at the club and has already joined the pre-season training.
