Lionel Messi: One could say that Lionel Messi has had a fairy tale career so far. Even though he had won everything he could with FC Barcelona, he could not say the same about his stint with the National Team. After losing 3 finals, one in the World Cup, then two in the Copa America, it seemed as though it was not meant to be. Then, everything changed. Messi won the Copa America, Finalissima, and the World Cup in the span of two years. Now, Apple TV has approved a four-part documentary series tracing Lionel Messi’s illustrious Argentina career. The industry leaders in streaming will air an as-yet-untitled series that will track Messi’s performance with the Albiceleste at the last five FIFA World Cups as well as his prospects for his country. The show will feature a unique behind-the-scenes video shot in Paris, Argentina, Qatar, and other locations.

The World Cup victory in 2022 was undoubtedly Messi’s biggest achievement last winter. According to Deadline, the 35-year-old will recount his own experiences while playing for the Argentinian national team, with a focus on his quest for World Cup success.

The show will feature footage gathered by filmmakers throughout the historic event, as he was observed by cameras from Argentina training fields to the comparatively private environment of his hotel room. According to reports, the Apple TV documentary will examine Messi’s World Cup aspirations from both a personal and private perspective.

Messi’s docu-series

The programme’s material will include interviews with a variety of the player’s teammates, coaches, opponents, supporters, and media figures in addition to the player’s own words. Deadline adds that the program will cover his career in the blue and white shirt from his first appearance, even if it is understandable that the World Cup victory will play a significant part in the narrative.

When Messi was 18 years old and playing for Argentina for the first time against Hungary in a 2005 friendly, he received a red card. Messi continued on this road until he abruptly retired in 2016 before winning the coveted trophy in Qatar.

After making his debut 18 years ago, the player’s illustrious international career is approaching its 20th year and has seen him surpass countless records. He is one of just three World Cup-winning captains and has played in more games (174) and scored more goals (102) than any other player for the Argentina men’s squad.

Messi has also featured in 5 World Cups for the Albiceleste and has always been the beacon of light for the Argentinean team. After losing to Chile in the 2016 Copa America Final, Messi did announce his international retirement but decided to overturn his decision too.

The project is executive produced by Emmy winner Tim Pastore and is produced by Smuggler Entertainment for Apple.
