It is important to remember that Messi will be 39-years-old by the time the next World Cup kicks off in 2026. Messi was asked about the chances of him playing the next World Cup after winning the Ballon d’Or. He had said, “The last one I won was also thanks to what we achieved with the Argentine national team in the Copa America (in 2021), but this one is much more special because it comes after we won the World Cup.

“I am not thinking about the long-term future. I am just enjoying the day to day at the moment,” he had said.

‘MLS doing everything to protect Messi’

Satin said, “Everyone is positive, they say he [Messi] draws the spotlight on football, because, as we’ve seen, there’s a lot of competition with other sports,” Satin told After Foot RMC.

“It’s absolutely undeniable that he brings glamour to football, and that this generates interest beyond football. Messi goes way beyond the boundaries of football. They [MLS] are going to do everything they can to protect him and make sure he can play in the World Cup in the United States, that’s what I’ve heard,” Satin added.
