FC Barcelona’s new gem, Lamine Yamal creates history

He smashed the previous record by just over two weeks, clocking in at 16 years and 87 days. Lamine Yamal, who scored his first La Liga goal at the age of 16 years, 87 days, gave Barcelona a chance to get back into the game vs Granada.

It was made possible by Joao Felix, who identified him in a packed penalty area. Lamine Yamal turned the ball in from close range while just onside. The La Masia product continued a record-breaking campaign.

Lamine Yamal made history this year by becoming Barcelona’s and Spain’s youngest starter. Also, the youngest player ever to start a Champions League game.

Lamine Yamal trumped Malaga’s Fabrice Olinga, who scored at 16 years and 98 days in 2012. Whereas FC Barcelona’s winger recorded this feat in 16 years and 87 days. Earlier in October, Yamal extended his deal with Barcelona through 2026, including a $1.06 billion release clause.

At 15 years and 290 days old, Yamal made his debut for Barcelona against Real Betis in April of the previous campaign. Yamal went on to become the youngest starter in La Liga history as well as the youngest assist provider during this season.

As La Roja smashed Georgia 7-1 in a Euro 2024 qualifier last month, he also made history by becoming Spain’s youngest-ever player and goal scorer.
