Kylian Mbappe’s contract with PSG expires at the end of the upcoming season. During an interview he clearly expressed that he does not want to extend his contract. Also said that he does not want to leave the club before his contract runs out. However, that means that he will be leaving the club as a free agent next season. This did not go down well with the club President Nasser Al Khelaifi. During the unveiling ceremony of their new coach Luis Enrique, he gave a piece of his mind regarding the matter.

Al Khelaifi gave Mbappe an ultimatum that he has two weeks to either sign a new contract with them or he will be put up for sale. He said it was ‘shocking’ for him to know that one of their best players wanted to leave as a free agent. He made it heard that he will not let that happen. It became clear that the relationship between the club and the player had soured. It did not help when a controversial interview Mbappe gave on June 12 to France Football Magazine had just now been published.

In the interview, Mbappe said, “Are people trivializing my performances? Yes, but at the same time, I don’t blame them. In France, they saw me grow up, they see me all the time, at PSG every weekends or in selection. And I’ve been scoring a lot for years. So, for people, it’s becoming normal. I’ve never complained that my performances are trivialized. I’m young and I’ve had the chance to. It was not that long ago to be an observer, before being an actor.”

6 PSG teammates of Kylian Mbappe have complained to Ligue 1 club's President Nasser Al Khelaifi about France captain's 'divisive' club comment

He added, “And myself, I trivialized what Messi was doing, what Cristiano Ronaldo was doing, what the great players were doing. We are in a consumer society, where ‘it’s good, but do it again.’ And the fact that I’m right next door, in Paris… I think playing at Paris-SG doesn’t help much because it’s a divisive team, a divisive club. So, of course it attracts gossip but it doesn’t bother me because I know what I’m doing and how I do it.”

Apparently, this time, Mbappe’s teammates at PSG have not taken it well. As per reports, 6 of his teammates have already gone to the club President to complain over the comment. Reportedly, 2 among those players just joined. The players who have signed for PSG this transfer window are Marco Asensio, Manuel Ugarte, Hugo Ekitike, and Milan Skriniar. It’s yet unknown who are the 6 players that complained to the PSG chief. However, it’s clear to say that following a fall out with club management, Mbappe has now lost his place with some of his teammates.
