All that was required was a signature from Mbappe and the French player would have been a Madrid player now. But, an incredible offer (in terms of money) was enough to sway Mbappe to sign an extension with PSG. Now, when asked about his future with the club, Mbappe was pretty clear. Despite ongoing attention from Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe made it plain that he has no ambitions to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer. When asked if he would consider leaving PSG, Mbappe responded directly and vowed to stick with his current team. He desires to return home with a Champions League trophy.
Talking about the same, Mbappe said, ‘The next step? Winning the Champions League. I have already made a final, semi-final, quarter-final, round of 16 … I have done everything but win. That’s all I need. Where [I want to do it]? In Paris. I’m a Parisian and under contract. So it’s PSG.’

As he competes for a bigger leadership role, Mbappe is said to have had arguments with teammates in the locker room this season, but he is by no means the only player to become himself in drama at the Parc des Princes. PSG’s head coach Christophe Galtier is likely to be fired after the season because the club is already eliminated from the Champions League.
There are also rumors that Lionel Messi has decided to refuse the extension option in his contract. The Argentine is not too pleased with the team and he is awaiting some more information on the way forward for PSG for next season, before making a decision.
Mbappe’s contract
Kylian Mbappe was all but signed to Real Madrid before a last-minute swoop in by PSG saw him decide to stay. His contract with PSG expired on the 30th of June, 2022 and PSG locked him down to a 2+1 year extension towards the end of May.

His new extension saw him get a massive pay bump as well. According to a report in The New York Times, Mbappe will be paid €630m over the course of his new contract. His basic wage is reported to be €6m per month, which comes down to €2.7m after tax. Mbappe’s contract is said to include several clauses, but no performance bonuses.
Among those clauses is a €180m signing-on bonus spread over three years that will be paid in full even if the player leaves. He will also receive a €70m loyalty payment to be banked at the end of the season which will rise every year. Mbappe ONLY has the decision-making ability to extend his contract at the end of the 2023/24 season. It will be interesting to see if he decides to exercise his option of the extra year.
