Kylian Mbappe has reportedly agreed to waive large bonuses owing to him by PSG. Mbappe’s future has been a source of contention for several years. The French star was rumoured to quit Paris Saint-Germain and join Real Madrid when his contract expired in the summer of 2022. But, that did not materialize.

Now, it seems that he is not too interested in cashing in his £70m bonus. But, it still doesn’t feel like he is going to sign a contract extension at Paris Saint-Germain as per RMC Sport.

PSG star, Kylian Mbappe ready to forego £70m bonus

After almost moving to Real Madrid in 2022, he did, however, do a late U-turn and signed a new contract with the French giants until 2024. This contract had an option of an additional year to 2025 that only he could activate. In the summer, Kylian Mbappe was kicked out of PSG’s squad after informing the club that he would not be using his contract extension.

This would effectively leaving them vulnerable to losing the most valuable player in the world on a free transfer next summer. He was then left out of the club’s pre-season trip to Japan and South Korea. Thus, forcing him to train with a group known as the ‘undesirables’ – players who PSG was attempting to push out. After missing the first game of the season against Lorient, Mbappe was reintegrated.

According to RMC Sport, Kylian Mbappe was only allowed to rejoin to the squad provided he agreed to forfeit bonuses owed to him. According to the article, PSG originally maintained that the only way he could rejoin Luis Enrique’s first team was to sign a new contract, something the forward refused to do and which he continues to dismiss.

As a result, PSG changed their approach and Kylian Mbappe has now surrendered around €80m in bonuses. PSG are eager to keep Mbappe at the club as speculation continues to swirl around a potential move to Real Madrid.

Real Madrid not interested in Mbappe anymore?

It appears that Los Blancos have shockingly ruled out making a move for Kylian Mbappe. Throughout the last two summer transfer windows, the Frenchman has been closely associated with the Spanish powerhouses. But, they have never found the final deal closed. All eyes will be on the Premier League clubs now, as only they have the financial muscle to pull off the Mbappe deal.

Spanish publication Cadena Ser claims that the La Liga team will not pursue him. They assert that Real Madrid thinks Kylian Mbappe’s wage demands are excessively exorbitant.

The France forward is reportedly asking for at least £330,000 a week in compensation if he moved to Madrid. Jude Bellingham, on the other hand, supposedly makes £150,000 a week.

Additionally, the report states that Kylian Mbappe will be too old for the Madrid management to handle. He will turn 25 next month, and in recent transfer windows, Real Madrid has made big-money raids for younger players. Madrid’s management is reportedly concerned about a backlash from supporters against Mbappe.
