Julian Nagelsmann set to take charge as Head Coach of German Football Team

As per reports, the ex-Bayern manager will take a huge pay cut to join the national team. Nagelsmann will get around €4 million in salary from Die Mannschaft.

Julian Nagelsmann is set to take over as Germany’s new head coach ahead of Euro 2024. He accepted the job after taking a huge pay cut. It’s a big development for Germany who are going through the worst phase. Nagelsmann was sacked by Bayern in the middle of the last season and replaced with Thomas Tuchel.

Nagelsmann is still under contract at Bayern Munich despite being sacked last season. The 36-year-old will be the new head coach of Die Mannschaft. The Bundesliga winners will terminate Nagelsmann’s agreement so that he can replace Hansi Flick as Germany’s new manager.

As per reports, the ex-Bayern manager will take a huge pay cut to join the national team. Nagelsmann will get around €4 million in salary from Die Mannschaft. He has reached an agreement with the DFB and the final details of his contract will be done in the next few days. The task would be tough for the 36-year-old manager as Germany will host the Euro Championship in 2024.

Germany sacked Hansi Flick this month after the national team’s 4-1 loss to Japan during the international break. Germany were also knocked out of the World Cup 2022 at the group stage. Nagelsmann joined Bayern on a five-year deal in July 2021 and won the Bundesliga title during his debut season in charge. He was sacked as Bayern lost the top spot to Dortmund. It was a controversial decision from Bayern.

The 36-year-old manager also spent two years at RB Leipzig. He guided the club to the Champions League semi-finals for the first time in their history. Nagelsmann was on the radar of top clubs like Chelsea, Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain in the summer. However, all three clubs signed new managers for the new season.

Nagelsmann’s first match in charge of Germany will be against the USMNT in an international friendly on October 14. The Euro Championship will be a big thing for him as German coach. Euro 2024 will start from June 14 and the former Bayern manager will get enough chances to prepare for the competition.
