It’s bleeding red! Bayer Laverkusen fans throng pitch as team wins maiden Bundesliga title

Guided by midfielder Florian Wirtz's hattrick goals, Bayer Leverkusen defeated Werder to emerge Bundesliga champions

Bayer Laverkusen won their first-ever Bundesliga title after defeating Werder Bremen with complete dominance. Immediately after the win, the football stadium erupted. Photos of hoards of fans on the football field went viral on social media, with fireworks all over.

Fans go berserk on field after Laverkusen’s first title win

For the first time in their 120-year history, the club won the title, and people went berserk on the field. Some fans called Xabi Alonso the best manager in the world, while others appreciated the hat-trick by midfielder Florian Wirtz.

Xabi Alonso’s team ends Bayern Munich’s dominance

The team scored 74 goals and conceded just 19 in the entire season, with 0 defeats. Under Xabi, the team finally managed to dismantle Bayern Munich’s complete dominance. Bayern Munich has won the title for the last 11 years.

Leverkusen also broke the record for the most points accumulated in a single Bundesliga season. When Xabi was appointed the manager, he had experience of playing under Pep Guardiala at Bayern. He brought in a young team, which had incredible pace to counter attack. Last season, he lifted the team to sixth place.

This season witnessed a complete transformation of the team. The team has won eight points by changing the score after the 75th minute, the highest by any team this season.
