Blues head coach Marco Pezzaiouli as they climbed to the third spot in the ISL points table with the win and have stretched their unbeaten streak to nine games in the current campaign. When quizzed whether his team is playing the best football this season, Pezzaiouli instantly disagreed as he highlighted several areas where the Blues need to improve. “No, I don’t think so,” he replied. “Because when you get a goal after one minute of game time, then you’re not doing your best. We played with high spirit and we had good set-pieces moments in the game. That’s why we won the game today. It was a well-fought game, both teams had chances to score. We won the game because of great team spirit.”
Both Sunil Chhetri and Cleiton Silva were on the scoresheet against Jamshedpur FC. Chhetri even equalled Bartholomew Ogbeche’s tally as the highest goalscorer in ISL history. Speaking about the veteran coming back in form Pezzaiouli lauds Chhetri but also highlights that it is important for him to see that the entire team is doing well.
“It was a good game for him today. First strike is always a good moment when you score. Not only Sunil scored today, he made a good game for the team even Cleiton Silva had a good game today and it’s important for strikers. But for me important is that the team played well,” the German tactician explained.

The German tactician has always been very clear about the club’s ambitions of getting back to the top four this season. So when asked about the plans he once again reiterated the same but also pointed out how they are focusing on the next game more than anything else.
“Now our focus is on the next game. We said a long time ago that we want to be in the top four. But now we are focusing on game to game, next week we have a very tough game against Hyderabad FC and they are in good flow as well. Let’s see how we prepare and recover,” Pezzaiouli replied.
Lastly, Pezzaiouli was asked whether having many different goalscorers helps the team or not when one of the forwards is absent from a game. The German tactician agreed as he lauded the strength and depth of his team.
“I think it shows the strength of the team because we have many goalscorers,” the German replied.
“Everybody who’s inside can score and that’s our quality, I think. That’s the most important thing. Of course, I’m happy for Sunil and Cleiton when they score goals. But, our weapon is that we have many players who can score goals.”
