ISL: Hyderabad FC’s Bartholomew Ogbeche makes HISTORY
Bartholomew Ogbeche is currently the top scorer of the ISL competition with 53 goals in 77 matches. He has played for four clubs in India – NorthEast United, Kerala Blasters, Mumbai City and Hyderabad FC.
To date, he remains the highest scorer for Kerala Blasters with 15 goals under his belt. A few days back, for the first time, he extended his stay at any Indian club (Hyderabad FC).
Having missed out on a technicality in 2019-20, Bartholomew Ogbeche left nothing to chance in the ISL 2021-22 Golden Boot race. The Nigerian striker, in fact, scored almost twice the number of goals his nearest competitors managed.

ISL: Bartholomew Ogbeche is ISL’s all-time Top scorer
Playing for Hyderabad FC, Bartholomew Ogbeche scored 18 goals in 20 matches to drive the Nizams to the final and eventually the ISL title.
His tally also helped Ogbeche equal Ferran Corominas’ haul of 18 goals from the 2017-18 campaign as the highest number of goals scored by a player in a single ISL season.
En route to winning the ISL 2021-22 Golden Boot, Bartholomew Ogbeche also became the highest goal scorer in ISL history, pipping India legend Sunil Chhetri.

“I would love to continue with Hyderabad FC but it is not in my hands, it is in the hands of the management but I would love to continue, for now, I am enjoying the moment as it has been a glorious achievement for all of us and not the time to talk about the future,” Ogbeche was quoted as saying by IFTWC.com.
Ogbeche joined from Mumbai City FC having won the Hero ISL and the League Winners’ Shield with the Islanders in 2020-21. For him joining Hyderabad FC wasn’t a very difficult decision.
“Hyderabad was one of the very first teams which approached me when I was available in the market, I never had any doubts regarding the club as I was also a very big fan of the team last season when I watched the way they played, it was really difficult to see that they missed out the top four, but I was happy in a way because we wanted to avoid them as well in the playoffs,” Ogbeche said.
