The constant delay in terms of both parties failing to conclude the deal has made the fans get frustrated and angry with the actions. With the rest of the teams making significant transfers in the summer window, East Bengal are the only club in the ISL to have been left behind in terms of squad building.

Debabrata Sarkar, East Bengal official on the situation : “We also want an agreement which will be legally better for club and investors. We want to provide joy to the supporters and perform well by forming a better team. This is our only dream.”

According to reports it is claimed that Emami have wanted a majority 80% of stake in the club. East Bengal have claimed that the meeting between the parties have been delayed owing to a function scheduled to take place at Emami on 1st July.

“We have consulted our legal team after receiving the agreement from Emami Group. Our legal team then has sent their draft to the Emami Group,” East Bengal joint secretary Rupak Saha said in a statement.

“They have a social function on July 1 and I hope that we will be able to sit down together and get it done as soon as possible,” he added.

“I can’t disclose the details but there has not been any hurdle yet. We are hopeful of reaching an agreement,” Emami Group director Aditya Agarwal told PTI.

There are serious doubts regarding the club’s participation in the Indian Super League (ISL) if the Kolkata giants fail to negotiate a deal in time. It has been over a month since West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee arranged for an agreement between the two parties.
