No Regrets

Sunil Chhetri has claimed that he has no regrets on missing out on a landmark of 100 International goals. Currently in 150 games he has amassed 94 goals. That is the overall 4th highest and 3rd highest among active goal scorers for country. He is just behind the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

“I have no regrets of missing 100 goals. When I started I had no idea that I would be able to score so many goals. I don’t feel hollow. 150 games, 19 years played for the country is unique. I am fortunate and blessed. I am fortunate to score 94 goals for my country,” Chhetri claimed.

No Idea after Retirement

Sunil Chhetri has no idea how his life will be after playing his last game for the nation. He plans on taking a short break before beginning his the pre season camp for Bengaluru FC.

“I honestly have no idea how my life will be this game. There have been a couple of matches which I didn’t play when I was injured. It was a sort of a jittery feeling,” said India skipper Sunil Chhetri in a media interaction.

Plenty of options in Attack

The Indian skipper has claimed that there are plenty of players who will fight for the coveted number 9 spot in the team. He has full courage on his players and the younger generation to strike hard and play with passion.

There will be a lot of fight for different positions. There are many who don’t play as number 9 in ISL, but in due course of time it changes. There are a lot of attacking players like Liston, Manvir, Sahal, Bipin, Vikram Pratap and Chhangte. I hope the team the gels well,” he added.

“There are lot of attacking players who are doing well. The two best team who played the ISL Finals, have a lot of Indians who are playing well. The hunger, the talent and the desire is there,” Chhetri concluded.
