This is a crazy fact but it can happen in real. Some Spanish outlets reported that the contract of the German midfielder has a significant clause that will allow him to leave his club for free if he is not registered in time for the season’s first La Liga match against Getafe.
The 32-year-old midfielder made a summer move on a free transfer from Man City. The Cityzens wanted to offer him a new contract but he turned down the extension to join the Catalan giants. He had a dream to play for Barcelona and he completed this with a free transfer. He also appeared in Barcelona’s pre-season games. Recently, we saw him playing in an El Classico victory.

The whole drama happened due to the delay in his registration. Barcelona are already dealing with financial challenges. If Gundogan finds himself leaving Barcelona for free, the Catalan giants will have to pay his €10 million wages for the first year of his three-year deal.
The Spanish giants have registered only 13 players with La Liga. Departures of the players can help Barcelona. They have recently sold Franck Kessie to Al-Ahli. This will generate some revenue and help to reduce their salary bill.
