Gary Neville issues warning for Ten Hag following Man United’s disastrous run

Following Manchester United's terrible run in the Premier League and EFL, Gary Neville offers a warning to Erik Ten Hag.

Gary Neville has warned Erik ten Hag that he might be fired from Manchester United after a succession of bad performances. Because of the club’s rudderless attitude, the Dutchman appears to be heading for the same fate as his predecessors.

‘Last night we saw the Theatre of Dreams turn into the Theatre of Nothing. Every single United fan bored and flat,’ Neville wrote on X.

We’ve seen it before, we know how it ends and we’ve had enough,’ he added.

United were eliminated from the Carabao Cup after falling to Newcastle 3-0 at home on Wednesday night. It was only three days after losing by the same score to Manchester City.

Ten Hag is presently in charge of United’s poorest start to a season since the 1962-63 season. For the first time since 1930-31, United have lost five of their first ten home games at Old Trafford.

United finished third in the Dutchman’s first season in command, ending a six-year trophy drought. This term, however, they have significantly declined, with Ten Hag seemingly unable to arrest the rot.

Ten Hag is United’s seventh permanent manager since Sir Alex Ferguson departed as Premier League champion in 2013. David Moyes’ disastrous tenure at Old Trafford lasted nine months. Despite winning the FA Cup in 2015, Louis Van Gaal was fired after only two seasons.

Jose Mourinho won two titles but was fired halfway through his third season, with United trailing the league leaders by 19 points after only seven victories in 17 Premier League games. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over as temporary manager in December 2018 and was named permanent manager four months later.
