Bale has announced that he will feature in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which boasts a hefty prize fund of $9 million (£7.3m). He will be part of a roster of 156 pro golfers who will be taking part in this tournament, which will go on from February 2 to 5. These 156 players will include US Open winner Matt Fitzpatrick, as well as Jordan Spieth and Luke Donald.

In 2020, Bale created controversy when he celebrated Wales’ qualification in the Euros by holding up a banner that said, ‘Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order.’ That showed us how much the winger loves playing the game of golf and now that he is retired, he can finally go down that road.

Now, he will be aiming to continue the same tradition, just with a different sport.
