Xavi was asked by reporters about Manchester City’s current run and the possibility to win the treble this season. To which, Xavi said, “Of course, it would [be fair]. In my opinion, they are the best team in the world right now. They have the best manager in the world and the quality of football they play is a mirror for us to look up to.”
Manchester City are currently in contention of winning three trophies this season. After defeating Arsenal in what could be a title-decider game, City have gained the top spot in Premier League with a lead of one point and one extra game in hand. They are also in the finals of the FA Cup, and will be facing rivals Manchester United.
City’s run in UEFA Champions League is also smooth sailing. After defeating Bayern Muncih in the quarter finals, they will be facing Real Madrid in the semi-finals. If they manage to win all three trophies, it will be history not only in the club’s record but for a Premier League side. Manchester United are the only Premier League side to win a treble. Moreover, it will also be Manchester City’s first UCL victory in history.
