“No matter what the result is, for last five years we’ve made some progess (limited ones) which’ll take decades to change and to wait for decades isn’t the best option for me,” Stimac was quoted saying.

Igor Stimac made it clear that India’s decision to not allow PIO and OCI footballers was one of the factors in his intention to stand down after the Asian Cup 2024.“India wants instant results. PIO and OCI footballers can make instant results. Now we are limited to go forward. To wait couple of decades here to do something bigger and better is not good option for me.”
