FIFA Club World Cup 2023 draw set, City faces winner of Club Leon vs. Urawa Reds

Man City will be competing against the winners of the game between Club Leon and Urawa Reds Diamonds which is the final game of the second round.

FIFA Club World Cup 2023 Draw: FIFA has officially announced the draw for Club World Cup 2023 and Manchester City will take part in the second semifinal. The draw for the FIFA Club World Cup 2023 took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia is the host nation as well. This event was streamed live on FIFA’s digital platforms.

The tournament will take place between December 12 and December 22. The Sky Blues have to play Club World Cup games amid the tight schedule of the Premier League. Manchester City are the only side who have directly qualified into the semifinals. Pep Guardiola’s side would eye another trophy this year after completing a treble last season.

Manchester City have never featured in the Club World Cup but qualified after winning their maiden Champions League title. They beat Inter Milan in Istanbul to book the tickets for Saudi Arabia. With the UCL triumph, they have automatically progressed to the semi-finals alongside the eventual winners of the Copa Libertadores.

Manchester City will be competing against the winners of the game between Club Leon and Urawa Reds Diamonds which is the final game of the second round. Meanwhile, Saudi Pro League and AFC Champions Al Ittihad will take on Auckland City in the first round. The winner of this game will face Al Ahly in the second round. Who wins the second-round fixture will face the Copa Libertadores champions in the first semifinal. Karim Benzema will be in action for a consecutive year in this competition after winning the last edition with Real Madrid.
