In what comes as a bit of a heartbreaking news for fans in India, Neymar Jr is all set to miss Al Hilal’s game vs Mumbai City FC in the AFC Cup. Neymar was stretchered out of Brazil’s 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay just before halftime. Now, it has been confirmed that he will mostly be out for close to 9 months. Indian fans couldn’t hold back their disappointment as Neymar will now miss the game in India vs Mumbai City FC.

Indian fans upset that Neymar Jr will miss Mumbai City FC game
November 6th was going to be the day that Neymar Jr would play his football in India. This would be the game between Al Hilal and Mumbai City FC in the AFC Championship. Now though, the extent of Neymar’s injury is out and he is going to miss the match for sure.
After having medical testing on his left leg, Neymar Jr acknowledged the worst-case scenario via his own social media channels. During the match between Uruguay and Brazil, Neymar appeared to have a catastrophic injury and began weeping in anguish. Neymar was seen with crutches after the game.
It is now confirmed that Neymar injured his ACL and meniscus. The same has been confirmed by Al Hilal too. The Indians fans were devastated that the Brazilian winger would miss this game. One fan tweeted, ‘Neymar is not coming to India (crying emojis) that’s okay ‘
Another fan said, ‘It’s a loss for India as well. We will all be unable to see world class player like Neymar playing in India.’
Another fan said it was sad for a lot of parties involved. The tweet said, ‘Not good news for Neymar, Al Hilal and Indian Football fans who were hoping to catch him in action against Mumbai City FC in the AFC Champions next month.’
Another fan was just plain sad that he wouldn’t be able to see the winger in India. That tweet said, ‘Neymar not coming to India ‘
Ney’s exclusion a big miss for the game
It definitely is a setback for Indian football too. This game would have given good exposure for Indian clubs and fans on the global stage. Having someone like Neymar playing in your country is a huge deal. Although, some fans are upset that fans think this tie is dead without the superstar.
