Mumbai City FC made an incredible comeback against FC Goa in the previous encounter. Ahead of the much important second leg, MCFC goalie Phurba Lachenpa claimed that the team has the motivation and will be ready to see off the Guars in the second leg of the semi finals. Give us an insight about the incredible comeback in the previous game
“So every time when we go to play out in different stadiums, we have to add up to that situation. And we always knew it it’s going to be tough. And it made tougher when we went 2 -0 down. But in the half time, coach said to us that we’re going to score, and, like, we always do, we have always come back. So there was motivation, and that is the, thing that we were looking up to,” Phurba told InsideSport.
“As a group, we know that what we are capable of, and we never give up till the end. And that was shown in that match because we always believe and we always believe in each other’s ability. Whether it’s it was a hard work or whether it was luck, I think, it was a great comeback for us and for the team. And I guess for overall, all the Indian Super League fans who loves this kind of football,” Phurba added.

Who would you love to face in the Finals?
Fingers crossed. We will give our best, and I hopefully, in the next match, I guess, we’ll be able to win the match and we’ll be able to reach the final. Both Odisha FC or Mohun Bagan are good teams.
They bring us different challenges. And whoever comes in the final or whoever reaches final, there will be a challenge. No one is going down easily. We have to be ready for, whatever the opponent provide us. So, yeah, we have to be ready for everything.
How was the 2023-24 Football season for you?
I feel my season went great because I think till now I can remember only one mistake which led to a goal. And I think, it happens in a football match, that everyone’s makes a mistake. And it’s up to us how we come back from that situation. I feel, we had a great season because I think not only me, but the entire team contributed to those clean sheets.
