A mismanagement from the organizers will surely leave a bitter taste in the memory of the thousands of Argentine fans who turned up to see their beloved ‘Dibu’. Emiliano Martinez is on a 2-day visit to Kolkata and was part of a chat show interaction with the fans when the event turned ugly for his beloved fans.
Martinez was part of a talk show named ‘Tahader Kotha’. He was met with a rousing reception upon reaching the venue. The two-century-old clubs of the City, Mohun Bagan, and East Bengal paid their felicitation to the Argentine custodian. East Bengal gifted him with an honorary membership of the club.

Martinez will also be gifted with an honorary member of the Green and Maroon brigade when he travels to Mohun Bagan later in the day. Following the felicitation there was a short chat show where Dibu interacted with the organizer Satadru Dutta.
And after staying for a short while, he left the venue much to the dismay of the fans. The fans voiced their frustration for the lack of security and the mismanagement by Satadru Dutta who has been instrumental in bringing the player to Kolkata. Though the ticket prices for the chat show were different, there was no segregation for the fans based on the tickets.
As a result, every beloved Argentina and Martinez fan rushed toward the stage when Martinez arrived. Moreover, the ticket holders were promised jerseys signed by Emi Martinez which were not gifted to the fans. After Martinez’s departure, the fans went on to surround Satadru Dutta who promised that the jerseys will be provided but fans are clueless as to when and how they will receive those.
It was the World Cup-winning goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez who saved the day for the poor management. In the midst of such a roused crowd where fans were reaching up to the stage with no security stopping them, Dibu kept his cool. He happily greeted every fan that reached him and calmly answered every question he was asked during the chat show. He even stopped talking when the crown chanted his name.

However, even though he managed to keep his calm posture in the face of such a huge crowd, it begs the question how the management failed to manage this crowd. Didn’t they have any plans chalked out anticipating that such an uproar was possible? In the absence of enough security personnel throughout the duration of the event, the management can only thank God that nothing worse happened. It again begs the question in every fan’s mind, “Are we ready to welcome such big stars with such level of management?”
