DSA chief lodges official complaint with ACB following match-fixing fiasco in Delhi Premier League

Delhi Soccer Association has suspended Ahbab FC after allegations of match-fixing arose against them in a Delhi Premier League game

On Wednesday, the Delhi Soccer Association (DSA) chief, Anuj Gupta, lodged an official complaint regarding match-fixing allegations in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) after meeting with All India Football Federation (AIFF) president Kalyan Chaubey.

Following their discussion, Chaubey met with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) chief, Madhur Verma, and Anuj for an hour, urging for a prompt investigation into the accusations.

“For the last two goals scored, it was very evident that there was a high possibility of fixing. In regards to that, at 7:30 PM the same day, I did an emergency meeting where I called all the vice presidents,” Anuj told  Sportstar.

“One of the decisions that we took during the emergency meeting was also to file a complaint. And in the AIFF meeting, they agreed but stressed that the investigation had to start as soon as possible,” Anuj added.

Match-fixing in Delhi Premier League:

The suspicions of betting and match-fixing arose during a Delhi Premier league match on Monday, wherein Ahbab FC, leading 4-0, inexplicably conceded two own goals late in the game against Rangers FC, ultimately winning 4-2.

The video footage of these own goals went viral, prompting the AIFF to summon Football Delhi chief Anuj Gupta for further information and issue a notice.

Previously, the AIFF convened an emergency meeting on February 19 to assess the severity of the situation, subsequently deciding to involve the ACB unit in a comprehensive investigation.

During Wednesday’s meeting, Chaubey briefed the ACB head on the incidents, while Verma acknowledged receiving inputs from various sources, including the AIFF and DSA, regarding such activities in the Delhi Premier Football League.

The bureau has requested additional documents and videos of the 11 matches for further scrutiny, ensuring a thorough inquiry to hold all responsible parties accountable for their actions.
