Christophe Galtier Case: Ligue 1: French coach Christophe Galtier now has filed a complaint against former Nice sporting director Julien Fournier and two French journalists for defamation. Galtier’s lawyer confirmed the news and revealed that Galtier was accused of making racist and discriminatory remarks about players last season and has filed a complaint against it. According to the Paris Public prosecutor, the case has been filed and the two journalists are Daniel Riolo and Romain Molina. “We hope that the Paris public prosecutor acts with the same speed as the Nice prosecutor did so that Christophe Galtier can be finished with this affair as quickly as possible,” Galtier’s lawyer Olivier Martin told AFP.
The former Nice coach has denied making racist and Islamophobic remarks following allegations, which surfaced in an email apparently sent by Fournier. Moreover, the incident was covered by several French media and this is the reason why, Galtier might have filed the defamation case.
Galtier was managing Ligue 1, Nice team last year and Julien Fournier was the sporting director of the team. Both of them left the club after the season, with Galtier joining PSG.
Galtier’s run at PSG is under pressure as the former Ligue 1 winning manager failed at the Champions League. The club still might win the Ligue 1 title, but with the kind of squad they have, anything less than a European trophy seems a failure.

However, the 56-year-old manager has shown the desire to manage PSG next year but the team might go for Zinidine Zidane. Galtier has earlier won a Ligue 1 trophy with Lille, but he was brought to win the UCL trophy. Galtier’s contract with PSG is till 2024 and he might have some chances of staying.
On the other hand, PSG’s management are regularly looking for new options in the market, and with many big names available, PSG might consider reliving Galtier from his duties.
