What followed after the full-time whistle was carnage, as the defending Europa League winners progressed another step into winning the ultimate glory. Striker Gerard Moreno said “We feel a lot of happiness. Ever since the draw paired us with Bayern, we have been telling ourselves that we could do it.”

Villarreal’s head coach Unai Emery was also over the moon, as he stated “Let’s enjoy the semi-finals. Knowing we are here, not because of how nice we are, or to let others say we are a nice and small town, but because we’ve worked for it.”
As for the semi-finals, Villarreal will be up against the winners of the tie between Benfica and Liverpool. The first match will be an away clash on either the 26th or 27th of April, whereas the second match will be played at their home turf in the Estadio de la Ceramica on 3rd or 4th of May.
