Arsenal’s new signing Jurrien Timber out for 6-7 months due to ACL injury

Timber had sustained the injury against Nottingham Forest last weekend.

Arsenal has received a big blow to their Premier League title challenge as their latest summer signing Jurrien Timber will be sidelined for 6-7 months due to an ACL injury. The 22-year-old defender tore his ACL during the match against Nottingham Forest last weekend.

The defender left the field in the season opener due to an injury. However, further medical examinations revealed the extent of the damage.

“We can confirm that Jurrien Timber has sustained an injury to anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Jurrien will undergo surgery in the coming days”, the club said in a statement.

Now, pressure will be on Mikel Arteta to figure out a strong squad. They can also plan a potential move for a defender before the deadline ends.

Football expert Romano feels that members of the Arsenal hierarchy will meet with Arteta to hold talks to dip back into the transfer market. He spoke to GIVEMESPORT regarding the injury of the Dutchman: “They will discuss that. They have a meeting internally already scheduled to discuss whether they want to enter the market or stay with the current squad they have.

He also added, “They will speak about that and I also think they want to wait to understand, with clarity, how long Jurrien Timber is going to be sidelined after his knee injury. That’s why they will discuss internally with Mikel Arteta.”

The former Ajax defender adds big value to the Arsenal and club invested in him by seeing his solid form in Netherlands’ top flight last season. Their current back-up option Kieran Tierney is planning to make a departure this summer and Arsenal might change their plan of selling the player due to unavailability of Timber.
