Both sides went close inside the opening two minutes, Philipp Köhn pulling off a phenomenal low stop to his left to keep out Robert Lewandowski but on the break, Kingsley Coman had to be alert in his wing-back role to put in a block which kept out a certain goal.
But it was Bayern who ultimately took the lead when Lewandowski was fouled in the centre of the area and despite some attempts at gamesmanship to put him off, he calmly sent Köhn the wrong way from the spot.

Moments later, he completed a stunning 11-minute hat-trick when a big defensive mix-up saw him block a clearance onto the post before following up to tap in the rebound to move past Sébastien Haller as the season’s top scorer in the competition with 12.

Lewandowski completed his hat-trick in the 23rd minute of the game, the earliest hat-trick scored in a Champions League game since Marco Simone in 1996 (24 minutes), as per OptaJoe in the tweet below. Two of the Polish striker’s goals were from the penalty spot, but that certainly won’t bother the 33-year-old.
