Barcelona BEAT Real Madrid in race to agree terms in PRINCIPLES for Arda Guler

Barcelona have beaten Real Madrid in the race to bring in Arda Guler. They have agreed terms in principles with the player and Fenerbahce.

Barcelona Transfer: Fenerbahce wonderkid Arda Guler has been on the radar for both Barcelona and Real Madrid for some time now. He is one of the prime targets for Barcelona this transfer window. Recently, Deco who has been working unofficially for Barcelona flew out to Instanbul to personally accelerate transfer talks for Guler. As per reports, this helped and the club and the player have agreed terms in principles with La Blaugrana. If they can finalise the terms beating Real Madrid to the punch, it can be a big transfer for them.

The 18-year-old prodigy from Fenerbahce, Arda Guler has caught the attention of a lot of clubs around the world. Barcelona and Real Madrid have especially been on the move to bring in the young lad. However, only talks with no solid leads were progressing until Deco decided to fly to Istanbul. Deco has been working unofficially for Barcelona to work out deals to bring in young talents. He has been a key part to work out a deal with the Brazilian youngster Vitor Roque.

He took the initiative another time and tried to work out a deal with Fenerbahce as well. It’s yet unknown what the talk yielded as no official statement from Barcelona, Fenerbahce, or Guler have come out regarding the matter. However, as per the Spanish journalist, Gerard Romero, Deco’s efforts have resulted in Barcelona beating Real Madrid in this transfer race. Apparently, La Blaugrana have been able to agree terms with both Fenerbahce and Arda Guler on principles during Deco’s visit.

Barcelona still have their financial issues to solve which hinders their possibilities to bring in the player in a manner. Barcelona President Joan Laporta said on an interview with the Catalan television channel, TV3, “La Liga allows us to do operations that don’t count for this year.” La Blaugrana will be using this to their advantage as they will try to incorporate both Guler and Roque, the next year. However, to secure Guler’s signature now, they will pay a part of his release clause.

Guler’s release clause is set at €17.5 million which is a fairly affordable amount for Barcelona. They will be trying to seal the deal before this price rises sky-high. Barcelona are planning to pay a part of this release clause this year to secure Guler’s transfer. They will pay the fest of the amount in the coming year when the player registers for Barcelona. As per reports, both Fenerbahce and Guler agree to this. Apparently, Fenerbahce would like to hold on to their ace for another year.

Additionally, Guler would also like to keep playing in the Turkish Super Lig another year to hone his skills more. In that way, he will be able to give a tougher competition to start in Barcelona’s games. Admittedly, if he comes to La Blaugrana this season, he will have heavyweight talents like Ilkay Gundogan, Gavi, Pedro, and Pablo Torres to compete for a place in the starting XI. If he’s coming next year, he will also have more experience by having played in the Euro 2024 for Turkey national team as they are currently leading their qualifying group.
