Villa took the lead midway through the first half, as Chelsea right-back Reece James scored an own goal to hand Villa the advantage in the 28th minute, but soon after going one-nil up, Callum Hudson Odoi was brought down in the penalty area by a rushing Matty Cash and the referee awarded the Blues a spot-kick which was turned home by Jorginho, levelling the score before halftime.

Lukaku came off the bench at half-time and made his presence known, nodding home on 56 minutes. The Chelsea No.9 got in front of Mings to head home a cross from Hudson-Odoi. Tuchel’s substitution paid off the desired result and Chelsea got in the driving seat.

Jorginho scored another penalty in stoppage time after Lukaku was brought down in the box. Making the score line 3-1 in favor of the visiting team.
