Martinez and his Argentine teammates headed out to The Belfry Hotel, which is around 9 miles from Villa Park to celebrate. Videos posted on Social Media in the aftermath of the hotel show that the hotel had been decked out in Argentine colors. Argentina paraphernalia honouring their victory in Qatar was strewn all over the walls, including posters and balloons.
Even the floor was decked in the blue and white color of the Albiceleste, with the World Cup kept in the middle of the room. Guests were seen dancing to the sounds of Latin musician Fer Palacio, including Emiliano Buendia and Brazilian clubmate Philippe Coutinho. An all-white attire was the theme of the party too.
The party did not stop at the hotel and was said to have continued at a local nightclub. You could say that Martinez deserved this party after his exploits in Qatar. His save in the 120th minute against Kolo Muani took the game to penalties. And the rest, as we know, is history.
