Amid frustration in pursuit of Caicedo, Chelsea put Leandro Paredes on priority

Chelsea can take a back step from Brighton's Caicedo and plan a summer move for PSG midfielder Leandro Paredes. Teh 29-year-old spent his last season on loan with Juventus.

Chelsea Transfer Targets: Chelsea have figured out few names for the summer transfer window and now, Leandro Paredes is their main priority in Pochettino’s wishlist. He can strengthen the midfield area for the Blues.

Chelsea have set their goals in the final weeks of the window and they go for the Argentine midfielder. They are already getting frustrated in the race for Brighton star Moises Caicedo. The Blues have already submitted two bids for the midfielder but Brighton rejected both. Brighton have now asked for at least £100m for the 21-year-old midfielder. This is the same price West Ham asked from Declan Rice and Arsenal signed him with a British transfer record.

After seeing the current asking price from the Seagulls, Chelsea have shifted their gears and they are now looking for alternatives. Leeds’ Tyler Adams is on the radar of the Blues due to a reported £20m release clause. Their other targets are Everton’s Andre Onana and Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga. Apart from all choices, Paredes has now emerged as the top choice for Chelsea head.

The PSG star spent his last season on loan at Juventus. He has trained with the players like Mbappe. The 29-year-old played a vital role in Argentina’s World Cup success last year. He had ups and downs in club football. His move to Chelsea would also help him and he can reunite with his national teammate Enzo Fernandez who joined the Blues last season on a record transfer fee.

Leandro Paredes is in the final year of his contract at PSG and his transfer fee would be slightly low compared to Brighton’s Caicedo. He was linked with Chelsea in 2019 as well when Cesc Fabregas left the club. Maurizio Sarri wanted him at Stamford Bridge but PSG had the final laugh.

The 2022 World Cup winner has appeared 117 times in the PSG outfit. During his time in Paris, he won four league titles and two French Cups. He made 35 appearances for Juventus last season on loan. They are also planning to sign him permanently. Pochettino can plan a possible summer move for the 29-year-old midfielder to boost the midfield section.
