Speaking exclusively to Insidesport.in, Ranjit Bajaj has slammed AIFF’s decision to give a clean chit to Kushal Das, calling the entire episode a “farce” suggesting that the organising body had an agenda against him. Bajaj has been at loggerheads with AIFF over the past few years, ever since the body found him guilty of making racist remarks against a referee in 2018.
Soon after Ranjit Bajaj went public with his allegations last month, the AIFF and its internal complaints committee head Jyotsna Gupta had outrightly rejected them. Das was then cleared of the charges by the sports body’s integrity officer Javed Siraj, who termed the allegations “frivolous and devoid of truth” in his report.
The former Minerva Punjab FC owner said, “I am really surprised that they immediately, after half an hour of my tweet, came out with a clean chit for Kushal Das. The person giving the clean chit was Ms Jyotsna Gupta who is his executive assistant. His personal secretary is also the head of the internal reviews committee and the one who has given him a chit. I find that such a big farce, how can your own PA give you a clean chit?”

Bajaj claimed that AIFF had not followed the basic protocols and alleged that their actions were attempts to save face. The former I-League club owner called for an independent body to investigate the matter, claiming that the AIFF had given the clean chit without listening to his side of the story.
Ranjit added that while he has written to the AFC and FIFA to investigate the matter, he wants the AIFF itself to make an independent body and make an enquiry. Bajaj claims to have proof of his statements and is willing to share the same in front of a committee.
Bajaj said, “I am willing to go and give evidence to my statements. But how can you without talking to me, give innocence to the general secretary? I have approached FIFA, and the AFC and have written to them to have an enquiry.”
“But I want AIFF themselves to set up an enquiry which is headed by an independent body, which means a judge or somebody else should be appointed. I have written to AIFF and I have asked them to give me an opportunity to present my case.”
“How can you pronounce him innocent without listening to what proof I have to offer? You have to do a thorough investigation and the investigation cannot be done by you, it has to be done by an independent body,” he added.
