AFC U-20 Asian Cup Qualifying FORMAT –
The ten group winners and the five best runners-up will qualify for the final tournament. The fate of the teams in all the other groups are already decided as the matches in Group H were delayed due to several issues. Australia had withdrawn from the qualifiers citing safety concerns due to the political crisis in Iraq but after AFC removed the matches to Kuwait, the Aussies have agreed to participate.
India’s GROUP and FIXTURES –
India are placed in Group H along with hosts Kuwait, Iraq and Australia. The defending SAFF Champions will take on Iraq in their opener followed by Australia and Kuwait. India are the underdogs in the group and will have to be at their best to even stand a chance to make it to the next round.

India U-20 Squad RECENT PERFORMANCES –
The Indian team will be high on confidence and self-belief coming into this tournament after being recently crowned the SAFF U-20 champions. Earlier in August, striker Gurkirat Singh scored 4 goals including a hat-trick while Himanshu Jangra scored the other as India U-20 decimated Bangladesh U-20 5-2 in the final to emerge champions in the SAFF U-20 Championship at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar
India also defeated Maldives and Nepal convincingly in the victorious campaign.
