AC Milan coach made three alterations from the 2-0 win over Lazio at the weekend with two of those coming in midfield. Pobega and Musah started the match, as Adli dropped to the bench while Ruben Loftus-Cheek missed out altogether after picking up a knock in that Serie A victory. The other change saw Thiaw replace Kjaer in the back four.

Dortmund made just one change from his team’s last outing, a 3-1 triumph away at Hoffenheim, as Can was given the nod ahead of Nmecha in midfield.

The first half had a few clear-cut chances, though Dortmund probably had the better of the opening 45 minutes. They were closer through Malen and looked a threat from set-pieces.

The opening 45 produced a scrappy half of football, with more yellow cards than shots on target.

The game lacked quality in the final third in the second half too. Malen did go close with a powerful drive in the first half while Pulisic spurned a golden opportunity to break the deadlock after the break. Hernandez, Chukwueze and Reijnders also went close for the visitors, but nobody could convert their opportunities and the match ended 0-0.

The Rossoneri take on Genoa and Juventus in Serie A before travelling to PSG in their next Champions League game on October 25, the same day Dortmund face Newcastle at St James’ Park.
