La Vanguardia released a detailed article earlier today on how Tebas wrote a letter to present evidence in the Negreira case against former Barcelona presidents Josep Maria Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell. The La Liga president had submitted a letter and urged that the prosecution act quickly. Yet, the supposed material proved out to be two decades old and had no significant links to Barça executives.
Barcelona has voiced “anger, dismay, and indignation” at what they call “false evidence to incriminate our club.” The statement continues, claiming that they are the “victims of a media campaign,” with La Liga “fanning the flames behind the scenes.”

“Given the gravity of the information that has appeared today Monday in La Vanguardia in which the La Liga president Javier Tebas is linked to the presentation of false evidence to the public prosecutor to incriminate our club, FC Barcelona wishes to expresses its deepest indignation, anger and dismay.” the statement read.
This would imply that the letter Tebas purportedly submitted to the Prosecutor’s Office has nothing to do with “Caso Negreira.” Instead, the letter, which was written decades ago, only contains the names of Contreras’ lawyer Emilio Roman, the accountant of the firms he oversaw, Ramon Rosell, and Josep Maria Bartomeu, according to the Contreras family.

“If only for this fact, that of giving himself powers that do not belong to him, although also for reasons of dignity and respect for the presidency of La Liga, Mr.Tebas should resign his post. Nevertheless, aware of his obsession with persecuting FC Barcelona and showing his constant averse and manifest dislike of our Club, we understand that the current La Liga president will persist in his efforts to keep damaging our club.” the stament concluded.
While Tebas defended himself earlier today on Twitter with a statement indicating that he was not making any charges, Barcelona has now sought an explanation from the La Liga president, as well as his resignation. Barca’s incendiary declaration and demand come after Tebas urged that Laporta quit if he is unable to “well” the payments paid to Negreira.
