After winning the FIFA World Cup final against France, Argentina players went on the podium to receive their World Cup trophy and awards. Emi Martinez won the Golden Gloves award for being the best goalkeeper throughout the tournament. After receiving the award, he celebrated in a controversial manner which has since come under scrutiny from players, coaches, and other football fans all over the world.
Many people suggested that it was inappropriate and Martinez had crossed a line. When he was asked about it, he even said that he would not do the celebration ever again. He also said that Lionel Messi had also asked him to not repeat the celebration again. However, celebration pictures after Argentina vs Panama match suggest that he has not been able to keep his promise.
This time four other Argentina players joined him in the celebration. The goalkeeper was joined by Geronimo Rulli, German Pezzella, Marcos Acuna, and Guido Rodriguez. The five players stood in a line and took a picture. It did not stop there as the wives of the players also joined them in the celebration and recreated the picture by the players.

The moment was recreated just moments later by Martinez’s wife, Amanda Mandinha Martinez, Rulli’s wife Rocio Esposito Suarez, Pezzella’s wife Agustina Bascerano, Acuna’s wife Julia Silva, and Rodriguez’s wife Guadalupe Ramon. Rulli’s wife posted both their and the players’ pictures in a social media post.
Argentina played against Panama in a FIFA friendly match in the 3-star Jersey for the first time. Argentina won the match 2-0 with goals from Thiago Almada in the 78th minute and Lionel Messi in the 89th minute. The atmosphere in El Monumental Stadium was electrifying and fans were enjoying every moment. Reportedly more than 1.5 lacs people applied for a ticket for the match and the stadium was full to the brim.
