The objective is to ensure that rival fans remain separated during their journey to Wembley and to prevent any recurrence of the violent incidents that took place 12 years ago.

Due to national rail strikes, the majority of the 90,000 tickets sold for the match will necessitate road travel. In light of this, a fleet of 160 authorized coaches will be deployed to transport Manchester United and Manchester City fans to North London.

FA Cup Final: Clubs in talks for additional security

In close collaboration with the FA and safety organizations, both Manchester clubs have developed comprehensive plans to ensure the safe travel of their supporters to Wembley.

These plans involve designated departure points in Manchester and the utilization of assigned service stations along the route, distinguished by red and blue colors to cater to fans of each club.

To minimize the potential for conflicts, bus drivers will receive instructions to make scheduled stops only at specific services, preventing fans from intermingling during the journey.

Car travelers will also receive a match-pack containing information about the designated services for their respective clubs, along with directions to the dedicated fanzones at Wembley.

F.A. Cup Semi-Final 2011 Case

12 years ago, violence erupted during the FA Cup semi-final between Manchester United and Manchester City in 2011, leading to concerns expressed by Sir Alex Ferguson about potential chaos on the roads.

Altercations between supporters occurred at motorway services along the route to North London, resulting in 34 arrests and scenes of violence around the stadium.

The failure to segregate the two sets of fans, especially in terms of designated coach parks, was largely held responsible for the disturbances.

This year, every possible measure is being taken to ensure that supporters remain separated right from their departure from Manchester on the early morning of June 3.

Both clubs are expected to bring approximately 36,000 fans each, and efforts are in place to avoid a repeat of previous incidents.
