Cristiano Ronaldo returned from exile to score the third goal for his side to seal United’s place in the next round. The hosts started the game on a fiery note, dominating the game from the very first minute. Man United went on to launch barrages of attacks, however, the FC Sheriff’s defense stayed resolute to thwart any advances from the hosts.
Manchester United had to wait for the last minute of the first half to find the breakthrough. Christian Eriksen whipped in a wonderful cross from the corner which Diogo Dalot sent to the back of the net. Starting the second half, United made two changes as Marcus Rashford came in place of Antony while Harry Maguire replaced Lisandro Martinez.

Marcus Rashford doubled the lead for his side past the hour. The English forward head his side’s second from a wonderful cross to stun their Moldovian opponents. Ultimately it was Cristiano Ronaldo who scored the third goal for his side late into the game. A wonderful cross from Bruno saw Ronaldo’s incredible header being saved. However, Ronaldo pounced in the round to score his goal.
