The tournament was live-streamed on Instagram, driving reach and conversation, achieving over 11.7Mn impressions and 3Mn views. As different teams geared up and battled it out, a surprise element in the game was a 3D-avatar of KFC’s Colonel Sanders. A first for gaming in the country, Colonel Sanders egged on gamers and fans as he made brief appearances during the live stream of the tournament.
While gamers displayed their skills, fans also got a chance to participate by taking screenshots of the Colonel whenever he appeared on screen and uploading these moments on Insta, tagging KFC and OR Esports. After every match, one lucky winner got the chance to win cool KFC merchandise. The tournament was marked by 1518 studios, part of the PTW family of brands, along with numerous other brands and digital natives joining the games.
