Masala Games, an Indian game studio founded by Shalin Shodhan (formerly of Electronic Arts and Pixar), announced their debut PC title, Detective Dotson. This mystery adventure game places players in the shoes of Dotson, a reluctant detective navigating a stylized version of modern-day India. The game is now available for wishlist on Steam, along with a playable demo.
In the demo, you play as Dotson solving his father’s mysterious death. You’ll encounter classic detective tasks like chasing criminals, finding clues, creating disguises, and recruiting allies. The full game, planned for release later this year, will include more episodes.
“Detective Dotson is our love letter to modern India,” says Shalin Shodhan. “Inspired by Bollywood and Indian detective shows like CID, it features a unique narrative. We hope you enjoy playing it as much as we enjoyed making it.”
Developed in Unity, the game offers controller support and an original soundtrack created with Nikhil Rao of Indian Ocean. The game’s system requirements are low, making it playable on a wide range of PCs.

Masala Games will also be showcasing Detective Dotson at GDC 2024. Attendees can play the game and win a Nintendo Switch at their booth.
