Red Bull Kumite, the renowned Street Fighter tournament, is set to kick off this weekend and will see 16 of the world’s greatest competitors battle it out, live in South Africa, as they fight to prove who is the world’s best Street Fighter player. Here is everything you need to know about Red Bull Kumite South Africa.

Red Bull Kumite, the most prestigious fighting game invitational, kicks off at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. The two-day tournament, taking place July 1st and 2nd, will bring together 16 of the best Street Fighter competitors to battle live for the bragging rights of winning the first major Street Fighter 6 tournament, as well as a prize pool of €50,000!

Elevating the tournament, renowned fighting games host Femi “F-Word” Adeboye alongside seasoned co-host Sam “TechGirl” Wright will lead the competition alongside a star-studded lineup of broadcast talent. Providing insight and commentary throughout the tournament are commentators Rob “RobTV” Burney, Logan “WSO Logan” Sama, Zhi, Marie-Laure “Kayane” Norindr, Samed “Damascus” Abdessadki, Sean Carrington, and Earl “MrChocolatezzz” van de Rhede.

Schedule & Format

Saturday 1st July: Starting at 11:00 CAT / 13:00 UTC, the Red Bull Kumite Last Chance Qualifiers will see players fight for their spot in the tournament. 128 players, distributed into eight pools, will fight in a double-elimination mini-tournament. Next, the top 3 players in each pool (24 players total) will fight in a final double-elimination top 24 final. All matches will be BO3 until the Top 4, the Top 4 will fight in a BO5 format.

  • 11:00 – 13:30 CAT / 13:00 – 15:30 UTC: Matches from pools A1 to A4
  • 13:30 – 16:00 CAT / 15:30 – 18:00 UTC: Matches from pools B1 to B4
  • 16:15 – 18:00 CAT / 18:15 – 20:00 UTC: Top 24 to Top 16 matches
  • 18:00 – 23:00 CAT / 22:00 – 01:00 UTC: Top 16 to end of tournament matches

Sunday 2nd July: Kicking off at 13:00 CAT / 15:00 UTC will see the final 16 go head-to-head for the crown. After Round 1, the top 8 will battle it out until only 2 remain, who will face-off in the LAN Final. All matches will be BO9.

  • 14:00 – 14:30 CAT / 16:00 – 16:30 UTC: Draw Ceremony
  • 14:30 – 18:00 CAT / 16:30 – 20:00 UTC: Round 1 Matches
  • 18:00 CAT / 20:00 UTC: Combo Contest
  • 18:00 – 21:30 CAT / 20:00 – 23:30 UTC: Top 8
  • 21:30 CAT / 23:30 UTC: Final
