Chasing a target of 196, Delhi Capitals were off to a poor start with Prithvi Shaw and David Warner departing inside the powerplay. However, Rishabh Pant and Mitchell Marsh continued to score at a brisk rate.
Marsh-Pant pair brought up a 50-run stand off just 16 balls to take the fight to LSG and their sloppy fielding did not make things easier either. However, it was Marsh’s wicket that changed things.
Mitchell Marsh seemed to edge a Krishnappa Gowtham and the umpire raised the finger. While he did not take the review, the replays showed that there was no edge. Marsh’s wicket triggered a collapse with Lalit Yadav soon departing. Rishabh Pant although looked threatening, he too did not last long.

Rovmann Powell did his best to get the job done with a 21-ball 35 but once he fell, DC’s chances evaporated quickly. In the end, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav failed to take DC home as they fell short by 6 runs, managing 189/7.

Earlier, KL Rahul returned to Wankhede and stamped his authority once again, smashing 77 off 51 balls. His knock besides Deepak Hooda’s 34-ball 52 helped Lucknow Super Giants post 195/3. Shardul Thakur was the most successful bowler with 3/40.
Opting to bat, KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock set the stage with a 42-run opening stand. Once Shardul removed De Kock, Rahul continued his form, bringing up a 95-run stand with Deepak Hooda for the 2nd wicket.
That stand set LSG for a 200+ total. But some good bowling in the middle overs besides KL Rahul’s wicket in the 18th over meant, LSG were restricted below 200 at 195/3.
