Yuvraj Singh’s 6 sixes record repeated for third time, Dipendra Singh Airee makes history vs Qatar

Yuvraj Singh first set this record during the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 against England

In a remarkable display of power-hitting, Nepal batsman Dipendra Singh Airee etched his name in cricket history by becoming only the third player ever to achieve the feat of hitting six sixes in an over during a T20 International match. This extraordinary performance unfolded during Nepal’s clash against Qatar in the ACC Men’s Premier Cup at Al Amerat.

Airee’s onslaught came in the final over of the innings, where he took on bowler Kamran Khan, accumulating an impressive 36 runs in the process. This breathtaking display propelled Nepal’s total to 210 for 7, with Airee himself reaching 64 from just 21 deliveries.

Joining the elite company of India’s Yuvraj Singh and West Indies’ Kieron Pollard, Airee’s achievement solidified his status among the cricketing greats who have accomplished this rare feat in T20 Internationals. Interestingly, this was Airee’s first time hitting six sixes in an over at the international T20 level, although he had previously achieved a similar feat during the Asian Games in Hangzhou in September 2023.

During the Asian Games, Airee’s blistering innings saw him reach a fifty in just ten balls, setting a new record for the fastest fifty in T20I cricket. His extraordinary performance not only contributed to Nepal’s imposing total of 314 for 3 but also marked the first instance of a team surpassing the 300-run mark in a T20I match.

Airee’s achievement adds to the illustrious list of players who have left an indelible mark on the cricketing world with their explosive batting displays. Alongside legends like Herschelle Gibbs and Jaskaran Malhotra, Airee’s name now shines bright in the annals of cricketing history, showcasing his talent and prowess on the international stage.
