Yashasvi Jaiswal turns fanboy, hails Virat Kohli ‘Lucky to play with him’

Yashasvi Jaiswal also sheds light on the advice he received from Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma

Yashasvi Jaiswal: Virat Kohli – Like every youngster in the Indian team, Yashasvi Jaiswal also is a fanboy of Virat Kohli. It is every young player’s dream to bat alongside Kohli, learn from him, and strive to be as hungrier and passionate as him. The southpaw, who has batted with Kohli in his debut Test against West Indies and strung a 100-plus partnership, feels he is blessed to play with him and learn a lot of things from Kohli.

“It is amazing to see him bat. What can I say? He is a legend. I am blessed to play with him. There are a lot of things to learn from him, be it cricket or outside of it. I try to pick his mind,” Jaiswal told reporters after the day’s play.

On his 500th international game, Kohli looked at ease and got to an undefeated 87 on stumps on day one of the second Test. Jaiswal missed a golden opportunity to convert his start into a hundred as he was out for 57. On the second day, Kohli would be hoping to convert his start into a big hundred.

Yashasvi Jaiswal: Jaiswal on having a good conversation with Kohli, Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma

Not only Kohli, but Jaiswal also loves to have good conversations with Rahul Dravid and skipper Rohit Sharma. The Southpaw feels getting small or big information from the three icons is a surreal feeling.

“Everyone has their own way to explaining things. They all have experience. I listen to all of their advice very carefully. When they are talking, there are few thoughts behind it. Getting information, small other stuff, it’s just incredible,” he said.

The India opener has had a dream start to his international career, as he has scored a hundred and fifty in two innings. However, the southpaw could have converted his second fifty to a hundred as well. It was not to be as he dismissed getting a start. Jaiswal though has said he will stick to the mindset of doing well for the team.

“I feel whenever I bat, I try to make sure that how long I can bat, and of course, there is a disappointment when I get out. I need to just keep learning. I always want to do well for the team. I go out there with the same mindset. It is a pleasure to go out there and play for your country,” Jaiswal added.

India finished day one on 288 for four. Along with Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja is batting on an unbeaten 36.
