Yashasvi Jaiswal fails to impress for Mumbai in Ranji Trophy clash against J&K

Rohit Sharma's disappointing domestic return and Jaiswal's early exit put Mumbai under pressure as they looked to recover in their Ranji Trophy clash.

India’s opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal who played his Ranji Trophy game for Mumbai against J&K failed to impress. Opening for Mumbai with Rohit Sharma, faced a challenge as he got out early. The 23-year-old was dismissed for just 5 runs by Auqib Nabi’s in-seaming delivery, which trapped him in front of the stumps. The umpire didn’t hesitate to give him out. Despite his short stay, Jaiswal managed to hit a boundary with a slash outside the off-stump against Auqib Nabi.

Rohit Sharma’s return to Domestic cricket didn’t go well

The match marked Rohit Sharma’s return to domestic cricket after 9 years. He partnered with Jaiswal to open the innings for Mumbai at the BKC Ground. Rohit got off the mark with a single, setting the stage for an important innings but failed to impress in the match. The Indian captain departed after scoring just 3 runs. He attempted a pull shot that resulted in a slight edge, and Paras Dogra took the catch inside the 30-yard circle.

Mumbai’s batting lineup and strategy

With Jaiswal’s early exit, Mumbai looked to regroup and build their innings, relying on experienced players like Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas Iyer. The team aimed to capitalise on the first-day pitch conditions, hoping to post a strong total despite the initial setback.

Good show from Jasiwal in BGT

In the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, Yashasvi Jaiswal played well for India. He had some great moments, especially in the Perth Test where he made 161 runs in the first innings. In Melbourne, he continued to perform nicely, scoring 82 and 84 in two innings. While Jaiswal had a few low scores in Adelaide and Brisbane, his overall performance was important for India. His batting helped strengthen the team’s top order as he finished the series as India’s top scorer and series’ second top run-getter. He showed everyone his potential as a young cricketer.
