WTC Points Table: South Africa consolidated their spot at the second position in the World Test championship table after crushing victory against Bangladesh in the first Test on Monday at Durban. Setting a target of 274 for Bangladesh, South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj  took a terrific seven-wicket haul that saw the visitors getting bundled out for 53 within the first hour on Day 5. Follow InsideSport.IN for more updates

With the win, South Africa lead the two-match Test series 1-0. The win at Kingsmead saw the Proteas register their fourth win of the current WTC cycle and increase their percentage points to 66.66. The Dean Elgar led side, won the Test series against India earlier this year, before two-match Test series against New Zealand ended in a 1-1 tie. Currently, they have four wins and two losses out of the six games that they have played.

Bangladesh at eighth spot – Meanwhile Bangladesh have lost five percent of the points with the loss and find themselves at the eighth position in the table. They are just above England with their percentage point at 20%. The loss in the first Test is their fourth defeat out of five matches in the 2021-23 World Test Championship cycle.
Australia on top – Australia tops the table with 75 per cent rating points. They won the Test series against Pakistan 1-0 and are leading the points table with five victories in eight matches. They are yet to lose a single Test match in the current cycle.
India in third spot – India, who recently clinched the Test series against Sri Lanka sit in the third position. Despite bagging 77 points, which is the highest by any team so far, they have a win percentage of 58.33 from 11 matches and find themselves just above Pakistan. Pakistan have a win percentage of 52.38.
England’s poor show – Sri Lanka, defending champions New Zealand and West Indies are placed fifth, sixth and seventh in the points table respectively. England are languishing at the bottom of the table, with just a solitary win out of 12 matches. They have accumulated just 18 points and have a percentage of 12.50.
