WTC 2023-25 Standings: New Zealand move past Australia & India to take top spot

New Zealand claimed a staggering 281-run win over South Africa in the NZ vs SA 1st Test

New Zealand’s resounding 281-run victory in the NZ vs SA 1st Test have propelled them to the top of the WTC 2023-25 Standings. This triumph, achieved at Bay Oval, saw the inaugural WTC champions assert their dominance and surpass both Australia and India, now leading the current standings with an impressive 66.66 per cent points percentage, according to ICC reports.

Despite having played only three Tests in this WTC cycle, New Zealand’s performance has been formidable. Their series against Bangladesh ended in a 1-1 draw last year, followed by a decisive victory over South Africa in the first Test at home, catapulting them to the top position.

Following the outcome at Bay Oval, last year’s champions, Australia, have slipped to second place, while India now occupies the third spot. South Africa’s defeat has seen them plummet to seventh place, trailing behind Bangladesh, Pakistan, and the West Indies.

A well-oiled New Zealand clinched a 281-run victory over an inexperienced South Africa in a one-sided NZ vs SA 1st Test

New Zealand’s dominance in the match was highlighted by Rachin Ravindra’s double century and Kane Williamson’s pair of centuries, supported by outstanding bowling performances from Kyle Jamieson and Mitchell Santner. The teams are set to resume their battle in the second Test scheduled to commence in Hamilton on February 13.
