The WPL 2025 has come to an end and Harmanpreet Kaur‘s MI has landed their second title, in a repeat of 2023 final, where they beat DC enroute the trophy. Now quickly, getting over the highs and lows for both the teams, it is time to discuss, what has the Indian team gained from this WPL campaign? And how have the Indian stars, who are regulars in the side, fared throughout the season?
InsideSport rates all the players on the basis of their performances in the WPL 2025, for their respective teams.
Shafali Verma – 7/10
No one would have thought that an out of form Shafali Verma would end up as the leading Indian run-scorer in the WPL 2025. But then she did and scored a few important forties in the competition. She failed in the night of the final, but then, to be able to show that consistency, is good for Indian cricket. She scored 304 runs in all, at an average of 38, with one fifty.
Smriti Mandhana – 5/10
Smriti Mandhana had a huge responsibility this season, to replicate her heroics from the last season. But she failed as a skipper and as a batter. In all she could only muster 197 runs in eight matches at an average of 24. That is rather poor by her lofty standards. She hit two fifties though.
Harmanpreet Kaur – 9/10
The winning skipper is an ageless wonder. Not only was she impressive as a captain, but took her hitting prowess to a different level. She scored 302 runs in 10 matches, at an average of 33, but her strike-rate was up at 154. In the eliminator vs GG, she struck 36 from 12, at a strike rate of 300.
Richa Ghosh – 9/10
Although her team did not make it to the final, but her own performances was splendid. She has emerged as the best power-hitter in the country, maybe even better than Shafali. In eight matches she scored 230 runs, at an average of 38, and her strike-rate stood at 175.
Deepti Sharma – 3/10
The premier Indian all-rounder was a disappointment with the bat and the ball; and in her leadership too. In 8 matches she only scored 122 runs at an average of 15, and bagged only 8 wickets. Her team suffered big time. Her economy rate was also up at 8.69. UP Warriorz finished last in the points table with only 3 wins under their belt.
Shikha Pandey – 7.5/10
The Indian veteran player, who could classify as an all-rounder, impressed with the ball big time. She has been out of the Indian side and no one knows why. But her performance for DC has put her in the spotlight once again. In 9 matches she went on to pick 11 wickets. What was striking is, her economy rate of only 7.09.
Renuka Thakur – 8/10
This RCB girl is one of the best pacers in the world and showed in the WPL, why she is rated so highly. In 7 matches, she returned with 10 wickets, with her ability to swing the ball both ways. She also had a decent economy of 7.89 only.
Jemimah Rodrigues – 4.5/10
Such a senior pro, and she finished the WPL 146 runs in 9 matches, at an average of 20. She could have redeemed her campaign had she taken her side to the title, but alas! This inconsistency is one of the reasons, why she comes in and out of the Indian team. Though gem of a player, she, for now didn’t show that solidity.
