WPL 2024: Yastika Bhatia becomes first left-handed batter to slam fifty in WPL

Mumbai Indians opener Yastika Bhatia slammed 45-ball 57 to keep the defending champions ahead in the chase.

Mumbai Indians (MI) wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia scripted history as she became the first left-handed batter to slam a half-century in Women’s Premier League (WPL).

Chasing 171, MI lost opener Hayley Mathews on a duck. However, Yastika kept the run flowing and stitched crucial partnerships with Nat Sciver-Brunt and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur to keep the asking rate under control.

Yastika reached the fifty off just 35 balls. Her innings included 8 fours and 2 sixes. The opener departed after scoring 57 off 45 balls.

Earlier, Alice Capsey slammed a 53-ball 75 to power the side to 171/5 in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 opening game.
