WPL 2024: GG and RCB name Sayali Satghare & Shraddha Pokharkar as replacements

With just four days left before the start of the second edition of the Women's Premier League, RCB and GG have been plagued with injury woes.

The Gujarat Giants (GG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have suffered blows before the start of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 season. With the second edition of the league starting on February 23, the Giants and Royals have been forced to replace two up-and-rising players.

For the Giants, 20-year-old Kashvee Gautam, who became the most expensive uncapped player (Rs 2 crore) in WPL history last year, has been ruled out for the entire season. Sayali Satghare from Mumbai has been roped in as Kashvee’s replacement. Satghar, who’s come in as a reserve, will receive Rs 10 lakh for the WPL 2024 season.

Meanwhile, RCB has replaced their injured all-rounder, Kanika Ahuja, with Shraddha Pokharkar. Similar to Kanika, Pokharkar is also a left-arm all-rounder and has been signed up for Rs 10 lakh. The left-arm pacer has already been part of the RCB camp as a net bowler and will now join their main side.

The Royals will begin their maiden title hunt on February 24 against the UP Warriorz at their home ground, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Meanwhile, the Giants will go against the defending champions, the Mumbai Indians, on February 25.
